Terms of Service
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms apply when you use Pocket Birds (the "Service"), a free online card game run by Kevin Shaffer-Morrison, an individual ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live, if higher). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
2. The Service
Pocket Birds lets you play a bird-collecting card game online with other people or with robot opponents. It is a hobby project offered free of charge. We may change, pause or end any part of it at any time, and we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.
3. Accounts
- You can sign in with Google or play as a guest. Guest accounts are tied to your browser session and can be lost if you clear your browser data or after a period of inactivity. You can save a guest account by connecting Google.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Please tell us if you think someone has misused it.
- Our handling of your information is described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Playing fair
You agree not to:
- cheat by exploiting bugs, reading other players' hidden information (such as deck order), or using automated tools or scripts to play for you;
- harass, threaten or abuse other players, or use a display name that is hateful, sexual, impersonates someone, or is otherwise offensive;
- break the law, or use the Service to spread malware or spam;
- attack, overload or probe the Service, scrape it, or try to get around its security;
- create many accounts to avoid a suspension or to disrupt other players.
The robot opponents that are part of the Service are fine, of course. We may rename a player, remove a game, or suspend or end an account that breaks these rules, with or without notice.
5. Your display name and what you submit
You are responsible for the name you choose and anything else you submit. You give us permission to store and show it to other players as part of running the Service. You promise you have the right to submit it.
6. Our content
The software, game design, layout and artwork of Pocket Birds belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. The bird illustrations are AI-assisted artwork made for this Service. You may use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment, but you may not copy, sell or build a competing service from our code or artwork without our written permission.
Pocket Birds is an independent fan project inspired by the board game Wingspan by Stonemaier Games. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Stonemaier Games. Product and company names are trademarks of their respective owners.
7. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing ksm@supabase.io. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we need to for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 6, 9 and 10) will do so.
9. No warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about it, including that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that games or accounts will be kept, or that it will suit a particular purpose. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.
10. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Because the Service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to US $50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, post a notice on the site. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Kevin Shaffer-Morrison lives, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a concern, please email us first and we will try to sort it out. Your local consumer rights, where you have them, are not affected.
